Six Months Until CentOS 6 EOL: Get Extended Support

Written by Alexander Vinogradov | May 7, 2020 12:07:58 PM

Only six months remain until CentOS 6 reaches end-of-life. That means no more support from CentOS: no more security patches, bug fixes, or vulnerability fixes.

Starting in November of this year, when a bug or a security issue with CentOS 6 is found, there will be no resulting patch from CentOS to fix it. Over time, these issues would compound, making the OS a ticking time bomb on your server.

With an unsupported operating system, it’s typically only a matter of months until that system has an exploitable vulnerability. On the dark web, these vulnerabilities are shared and sold for cheap, leaving your data and systems at risk.

Migrating to a new, supported version of the OS would solve this problem, but what If you’re not ready to migrate to do that? What can you do to keep your servers secure? Just contact CloudLinux. We’re offering extended lifecycle support for CentOS 6.
