CloudLinux Enterprise services have been growing steadily for years now. KernelCare, for example, was launched around 6 years ago as a live patching tool for the Linux Kernel. Since then we have added several useful integrations for vulnerability scanners, automation tools and others, and we also released KernelCare+ which adds live patching for OpenSSL and glibc shared libraries.

Our starting point was clear. Based on research results, our clients overwhelmingly want the classic CloudLinux OS with VPS and VMs, which only a few users then utilize. One main request is a robust set of CloudLinux features on one server at affordable prices. Consequently, we found hundreds of VPSs with five or fewer websites hosted by a single client, many of which use VMs for staging and production. Some clients want a stable OS with technical support that is secure and not open-sourced.

Global digitalization caused by the recent pandemic has accelerated the sales of IT infrastructure and services to provide 24/7 secure collaboration, Virtual Machines, and e-commerce tools to Work From Home (WFH) users. Many businesses who are looking to quickly scale IT capacity, start shifting from on-premises to public and hybrid clouds. Yet, concerns over data sovereignty and state regulations make IT decision-makers consider traditional VPS, VDS, and colocation over public cloud instances. It is a strong call for the hosting market to deliver clients local, low-latency data access and hardware at affordable price points.

The Data Plane Development Kit (DPDK) is an open-source software project with a vibrant community of development contributors. Because it is open-source and free, a large portion of the tech industry involved in microprocessor research and development are working to improve DPDK with each release update. This includes computer scientists and researchers from Intel, IBM, and Cisco, among other industry leaders.
In February 2020, we released CloudLinux OS 8 with the 4.18 Kernel. The rollout was a success as users experienced reliability and full update support via CloudLinux. Now, we are pleased to announce full compatibility with cPanel and Plesk control panel interfaces. While it showed great performance and strong workability on the DirectAdmin servers, the latest compatibility update adds much-needed GUI support, something web hosters will surely appreciate.

Thousands of sites could be hosted on one physical server, and just one application could affect all other sites hosted on the server. Shared host providers must be diligent with monitoring and performance tuning on these servers to ensure that applications run smoothly and don’t have malware running on them (learn more about shared hosting security). With the right tools, shared hosting providers can improve site performance for customers while boosting overall revenue.

As CloudLinux OS+ is developing and growing, it gets more and more tools that help system administrators to maintain servers and care for them.
